I use Mint 14 32-bit and really have minor issues with games.
Its not a bad idea, but you can only use 3.25 Gigs of Memory.

64-bit Ubuntu or Mint should still work fine once you install the multi-arch.
Also make sure to create a 32-bit virtual drive when installing GW2. PlayOnLinux should ask you when installing the game

When I try and create the 32-bit VD it just stays in a loop and doesn't finish the process. And surprisingly it does not I have to manually install to have it create 32-bit.

Also how would I go about downloading the Multi-arch I tried your command earlier in this post?

Its looking like all I need is the i386 p11-kit-trust.so file and the problems i'm having right now would work... ???? >.<

I have p11-kit-trust.so in another file but it's 64bit which is why im getting the elf class.

Apparently it doesn't even exist even though I have found it through files

ls p11-kit-trust.so
ls: cannot access p11-kit-trust.so: No such file or directory

sudo ls p11-kit-trust.so
ls: cannot access p11-kit-trust.so: No such file or directory

Dont worry about that file. Its not stopping your game from running. Trust me. It can be ignored. Just ignore it.

I for sure recommend using a different distro now. Something is grumpy on your system.

Your install of PlayOnLinux is screwed up too, if it doesnt automatically create a virtual drive.

At this point, you will save yourself a LOT of trouble if you simply use Mint or a different flavour of Ubuntu (LTS ONLY). I have a feeling that this specific distro and your system are going to keep giving you headaches.

The script is what determines the the arch of the wineprefix, so again, that is taken care of automatically. If you are having to create a VD, your install seems really out there.

Might want to try Mint 64 bit with the multiarch-support package installed, as playonlinux/wine, etc etc.. I think you will be a lot happier moving away from that, and will probably have better luck with this. Your system just seems really far gone at this point if all of this is happening, and I never rule out Ubuntu/Unity when anything graphics related is messed up and that distro is in use.

I think he means the script installation doesn't create the virtual drive for him.

When you install with scripts doesn't it ask you if you want to use a 32-bit or 64-bit virtual drive?

When I do manual installs I definitely get a prompt for that.

When I go to download script it auto makes 64bit VD but if I manually do it I can make 32bit but it does not complete the install when I do it manually.

Thats automated within the script. POL_System_SetArch will automatically take care of this.

Although, when I look at the script, it says "auto"

# Downloading wine if necessary and creating prefix
POL_System_SetArch "auto"
POL_Wine_PrefixCreate "$WORKING_WINE_VERSION"

Quote

Im wondering if it IS defaulting to a 64 bit wineprefix. Im going to make a change to force it to 32-bit, and I want you to delete the virtual drive, and ONLY use the Install window to try reinstalling GW2 again. do NOT create the virtual drive beforehand, because I want to see if this change works.

I just set it from "auto" to "x86". This should force it to use 32-bit prefix and wine.

Im hoping this will take care of it for you. Im not sure why it set to auto to begin with, as we dont support 64-bit installs. Im sure the scripter had a reason, though.

Do what I said above WITHOUT creating a virtual drive manually, and installing the game via:

PlayOnLinux -> Install -> search for Guild Wars 2 - > Click install

Make sure you are not running downloads or using your network/internet connection too heavy. Things need to be downloaded, and you want to make sure that your network is nice and quiet when they are downloading. Failed downloads of say Wine for this game will make every attempt to create a virtual drive fail.

Give it a shot. :)

Ok. Then that was (most likely) the problem.

Delete your virtual drive, CLOSE PLAYONLINUX, re-open it, and reinstall as I stated. You HAVE to restart POL (or click refresh) to see the changes in the script I made.

When you install it this time, it should just create a 32 bit prefix like normal.

One thing I would like to point out. Notice how long this thread is? This would have been taken care of if we had the install- and virtual-drive debug output, as requested multiple times before. Not half, not the errors, not whatever a user might think is relevant. The WHOLE thing. This would have been VERY easy to spot with the debug logs. Just something to keep in mind. ;)

Yeah, that is interesting... pretty much all of those PC games are 32-bit only. even if they are 64-bit, they still have a 32-bit counterpart.
So that answers my question. When using scripts it automatically creates the virtual drive for you and should set it as 32-bit.

Exactly. The script uses internal POL_ functions to take care of all of that. It SHOULD be 32-bit, unless otherwise specified by the script. I mean, some things do actually work fine through 64 bit prefix, but not enough to let 64 bit be chosen automatically.

This was probably the issue the whole time. I want to get this dude gaming again. haha

Ok, you did not listen to what I said.

Do exactly this, in this order. I made a change, and GW2 will NOT create a 64 bit drive now:

Make sure PlayOnLinux is closed

rm -rf ~/.PlayOnLinux

start playonlinux

attempt install by clicking INSTALL, then searching for Guild Wars 2, and click the Install button in that window.

Follow all install prompts.

Again, you still arent posting any debug output, but I dont care about that right now. Follow the above steps TO THE LETTER. Dont skip, or leave ANYTHING out.

The install WILL CREATE A 32 bit prefix, IF you do it exactly as I stated.

Djyosh I'm sorry I guess I just don't really know what you mean by the whole debug. Hopefully I can be more helpful in the future :)

Not its ok. Dont worry about it. We will take care of that later. lol. The stickies very clearly explain it, but right now, I need you to do what I said in the post directly above, exactly as I said. This should get it to create a 32-bit drive. Just try it real quick.

hahaha. Again, no worries. Its all good.

Just let me know what happens after you perform the steps above. For clarity, Ill re-post them here.

Make sure PlayOnLinux is closed

rm -rf ~/.PlayOnLinux

start playonlinux

attempt install by clicking INSTALL, then searching for Guild Wars 2, and click the Install button in that window.

Follow all install prompts.

This is nowhere near the full debug output. This is a very small part of it.

Plus, just posting the debug doesnt tell us anything. Did it work? did it crash? did it do the same thing? Did you do exactly what I said? Did you read the sticky in the forums on how to get this debug output? It outlines how to do it very easily.
