When I start the game using the "false wine desktop", it does something like this after the logo :

Not a total black screen, and it "froze" on it

Yup, that definitely is your virtual desktop

So maybe someone got a solution ?
booman Monday 28 October 2013 at 23:40

Sounds like its still crashing.
I looked at the logs and didn't find anything useful, but my knowledge is limited.

Console and script logs don't have much info on specific libraries or driver errors.
Just some stuff about c++ and everything the script installs.

debug log has the same errors from the beginning.
OpenGL is still having a problem.

Did you try a different version of Ubuntu or Arch?

It may just be the new League of Legends update that breaks something in Wine...
I know the LeagueOfLegendsStore patched version of Wine is broken because of that update.

Otherwise, it must be an AMD driver issue, which is very common.

I'm not sure it's a driver issue, I can play other games quite well (Got like 150-250 fps on Portal (Steam for Linux) with max settings)

I'm trying to make a Debian chroot, but I can't install the driver in it (Seems to crash :/ I'll retry tomorrow)
booman Tuesday 29 October 2013 at 0:29
booman

True, I forgot about that. Definitely not a driver.
I'm not very experienced with Debian, but I still wonder if its the new League of Legends update that broke Wine.
At this point its just trial-n-error.
Keep trying different things...
Try different Wines, install in a new virtual drive, try display settings.
Something has to get it to work eventually.

booman: Have you League of legends ? You may try if it work for you if you got it installed. if it didn't work, that's definitely a problem from League of legends update.
booman Tuesday 29 October 2013 at 0:53

Nope, I tried it a few months back and it worked fine. But I've seen a lot of posts about the new update breaking the store.
I could probably download it and try it again.
Then I can update my guide

He's on Arch too, with the last version of wine ... And it doesn't work for me, not even the black screen on windowed version of wine

I may have more information to add. Or at least another case to bring to the table.

I read the forum here and I've seen read more than a couple of times:

"Why not use existing script?
Install PlayOnLinux 4.1.x, then
Install button > Check "In testing" checkbox > Games > League of Legends"
-Petch

So I decided that was the way to start off. installed and started the initial screen without a hitch.

Then I decided to try it out in a practice game. After the champion select screen ended and the loading screen was about to begin my client stood still with the League of Legends emblem in the center screen grayed out.

This is what I see from POL

I have a strange feeling disabling dbghelp could help

Disable dbghelp:
  1. Launch PlayOnLinux
  2. Click Configure
  3. Select Virtual Drive Shortcut (on the left)
  4. Click Wine Tab
  5. Click Wine Configure
  6. Click Libraries Tab
  7. Type:  dbghelp
  8. Click Add
  9. Select dbghelp
  10. Click edit
  11. Select “disable”
  12. Click Ok
  13. Click Ok

After doing what you suggested The game no longer will go gray and stall out but it will still not load the game.

Now it will Close the launcher and almost instantly give me the please reconnect to your game screen. When you choose reconnect The Launcher closes again like it normally would but the game doesn't load.

It's not crashing anymore but it's also not starting the game.

Great, now its saying LoL requies dbghelp.
Go back to the libraries and set dbghelp as native, builtin
if that doesn't work try just builtin or just native

I still don't understand why secur32 is causing problems? Its a free game and shouldn't need to authorize anything.

That LdrinitializeThunk error is usually following errors for MFC42 and MSVCP60 libraries.
But I don't see errors for those in your debug. Can you check again and look for MFC42 and MSVCP60?

Here are the results.

When set dbghelp as native.builtin
Debug File:
http://ubuntuone.com/2mJOADkBpoVTfxD1GTJYOW

Built in
Debug File:
http://ubuntuone.com/7OOtYJAGxpEb5v6U5INdTJ

Native
Debug File:
http://ubuntuone.com/4D9mApA4otNb1ii3aG3Iui

All of the above had the same issue happen as before. This time the League of Legends emblem went gray again.

When set dbghelp as builtin.native
Debug File:
http://ubuntuone.com/19lZBEkmBSnJ6SfEEh0acI
Crash File:
http://ubuntuone.com/39KifU36F0NId9keFkPMB1

This one was different. I couldn't get past the login screen when I put in my credentials it crashed. I have both the log and the reason it gave me for crashing.

Disabled
Debug File:
http://ubuntuone.com/4TM4sigL7rcob3pu1MxCUA

That's the whole debug file for disabled this time. I looked through them and didn't find any reference to MFC42 or MSVCP60
booman Saturday 2 November 2013 at 17:55

Wow, thanks for being so detailed!
It will take a while to check all of these logs.

Sounds like builtin, native is the way to go.

But the log does say "*msvcr80"="native,builtin" and "*msvcr90"="native,builtin"
Those are the same thing but newer.

There's this error: err:dbghelp:pe_load_dbg_file Couldn't find .DBG file "dll\\wininet.dbg"
Not sure why if can't find dbghelp when you have it enabled and wininet IS installed.

Still have this error too: err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\windows\\system32\\winedbg.exe"

I see some Devenum errors, Can you check and see if devenum libaries are installed in Wine Configuration?

I really don't want to read all of the posts again, so forgive me if I repeat myself...

There are a lot of d3d errors which is Direct X.
What Direct X versions have you installed?

I ran League of Legends with d3dx9 only. So you probably don't need all of them.
Also I successfully installed with Wine 1.6-rc4 and then switched to Wine 1.5.24-LeagueOfLegendsShop
I also had to set Windows version as Windows XP and then install IE8 (which installs msls3, msxml3 & service pack 3)

I suggest starting over and trying these steps.
Did I every link you to my guide?

Ok, I have confirmed the dbghelp problem.
I downloaded and installed Legue of Legends this weekend and got the exact same error:

I never got this error which is good:

err:secur32:schan_AcquireClientCredentials Could not find matching protocolfixme:crypt:CRYPT_RegControl CERT_STORE_CTRL_AUTO_RESYNC: stub

Quote

But I am getting the dbghelp can't find wininet.dbg error

I actually get to the login screen, but once I login this error pops up immediately and it crashes.

Whoa, I seriously just tried it again and it worked, the only thing I changed was:
  1. at login screen
  2. clicking the gear
  3. Unchecking:  Peer to Peer sharing
  4. Click Save
  5. Login
Now I get a whole new problem clicking the store button

With Wine 1.7.4-LeagueofLegends it crashes
With Wine 1.5.24-LeagueofLegendsStore

I'm getting wininet errors:
