Hey guys!
I sincerely hope this isn't as menial a problem as I think it might be, and I haven't found a post about it?
I am however, quite new to all of this.

So , every time I run a game through POL, my screen resolution is bumped crazily and parts of the screen no longer make sense.

The games often come up horrifically that they are unplayable or I'm unable to view the screen appropriately.
This is not the case with programs such as Abelton.
Please help/guide me though this?

Ubuntu 13.04 x86    POLversion:4.2.1
Wine ver: 1.7.3   NvidiaGeForce 7600 GS   Driver:304.88

Thanks in advance!

The easiest way to fix this screen resolution problem is by using the "virtual desktop" setting in Wine.

Wine Virtual Desktop:
  1. Launch playonlinux
  2. Click Configure
  3. Select virtual drive
  4. Click Wine tab
  5. Click Wine Configure
  6. Click display tab
  7. Check "run Wine in a Virtual Desktop"
  8. Select a resolution (1024x768)
Now when you launch your game and it will open a generic Windows desktop
When you make changes to the resolution in-game, the "virtual desktop" will also change with it.

First, your nvidia drivers are super old. Upgrade to the beta version, if its available. I know you are running an old chipset, so that may not work for you.

Ableton does not change your resolution like games do. The workaround for this, as booman stated, is to run a virtual desktop, or tell them game to run in windowed mode, for the resolution you want.

Remember that this not windows, and things like this can happen.

You say you are running Ubuntu 13.04, but the desktop I see on there doesnt look like it. Ubuntu runs Unity. What are you using?

All looks fine now.
Thank you very much! =]

I'll get on that beta version, hopefully it's fine.
I'm using the Mate desktop.

I just wanted to chip in that the 304 drivers are the officially suggested drivers for the 6/7 geforce cards, although the current version is 304.108.

Good point, I forget that 6/7XXX GeForce cards are considered "legacy" and can no longer update drivers.
There is a chance you will have some issues playing games.
I found a newer card runs much better with Linux, Wine & games.
