Hello,

I feel kinda bad opening a whole post for this, but I'm new to Wine, and Linux for that matter. Thanks to the awesome scripts, I've managed to get World of Tanks working, but I have no sound. When it ran through the script, it failed to install Mono. I also read Gecko is good to install as well. Now, I just have no idea what either of these do, or which version of Mono I should install (210, 26, 28).

Would installing either of these affect the lack of audio? If not, any ideas on what I should do?

Here's what I'm running on:
OS: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise
Wine: 1.5.24
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-H67M-D2-B3 LGA 1155 Intel H67 SATA 6Gb/s Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
GPU: GeForce GTX 460
RAM: 4GB
CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz

If I failed to list anything important, please let me know and I can try to find it :P

Thanks in advance!

Ah, and to clarify, I'm using the on-board for sound.

You can install Mono from the software center manually. That should work. As for no sound, I am not sure if Mono is the center of it all, but you definitely need it.

I doubt it matters, if the game required some .NET implementation it would simply not work, not just not get sound.
It's just Wine 1.5.6+ (I think) that automatically install wine-mono when a virtual drive is created.

If your distribution is using Pulseaudio daemon, try disabling it beforehand (by temporarily killing the process, or use pasuspender,...) as it's not fully supported by plain Wine: http://www.playonmac.com/en/issue-1314.html

Thank you guys for the replies!

Ubuntu found a couple of updates for PulseAudio and Wine (no idea what the updates did) but that seems to have fixed the sound problem. Not sure if these are new updates or not because they showed up two days later, but everything looks good to go now.

For future reference with Mono: I know I can install them through PlayOnLinux, but there are three versions on there. Which should I go with? I would assume 2.10 since it's the newest?

Thanks again for the replies and the great work on PlayOnLinux!

Wine uses none of those, it downloads wine-mono; So I suppose you can install any of them (the newer being mono210 I'd go for this one).

The development version of PlayOnLinux takes care of downloading (and caching) wine-mono, but there's currently no package no install it. Just see on the download page how to fetch the git repository, if you're interested.
