Is this an optimus-enabled laptop, and, if so, do you have bumblebee/primus or some sort of support for that? That might not cause this, but you will be screwed trying to play in general if you cannot get OpenGL running on the Nvidia card (which is what bumblebee/primus is for). Just something you might want to check out.
declare -x VERSION="4.1.1"
This could be a huge part of your problem. You need to upgrade POL to the newest version from our site. We have been trying to get Ubuntu to add 4.2.1 to their repo, and they are lagging. So, go to the Downloads section of our site, and download the DEB file for ubuntu, and install it, so that you are running PlayOnLinux 4.2.1. Delete the virtual drive, and attempt install again.

Several things going on here... Debug is showing binkw32.dll missing which is a Video codec and ubiorbitapi_r2_loader.dll missing which is Uplay DRM. Also, xinput need to be installed from the Packages tab in PlayOnLinux Configure. But I have a feeling the ubiorbitapi is going to be your main problem. Honestly, I got Uplay and Assassin's Creed 2 running with Wine 1.7.1 and a manual installation. When I first launched Uplay, it downloaded several updates. So make sure your Uplay is completely up to date. If the DRM is causing a problem, I'm not looking forward to messing with that when I test Brotherhood.

PS: This is EXACTLY why, if people read the stickies and forum rules, we need your FULL system specs AND the term. output or debug logs. We CANNOT efficiently help without these things.

Good eye. I didnt see that. AC2 is the ONLY one that is a pain in the arse to do this with because of their DRM. Subsequent AC releases do not use the same DRM that AC2 uses, so brotherhood shouldnt be a problem at all. I had it running through wine about last year, but I dont remember what I did, as I started playing on my cracked xbox instead.

Good to hear... I'm eventually going to test in Linux, so I'm glad you got it working. I have the Steam version and after reading about Brotherhood in Steam, apparently there is still some Uplay DRM at play...

I don't have optimus, I'm using a Lenovo y500 750m sli solution. I have Nvidia 325 certified drivers. I'm going to fiddle around and see what I can do. I don't feel like it's a POL problem, because uPlay starts and works fine, but it won't play when I click play game; it just gives an error message.

Well, its still there, but not like AC2. The original release of AC2 for PC had to be connected online to EA servers to even play it. lol. They obviously have removed some of those restrictions. We couldnt expect a game company to NOT treat its customers as criminals and release DRM-free games, right? hahaha @drew - Ok. I just wanted to make sure that you were aware. Its a fairly common issue (though, its not your issue now, but just making sure you know of it).

Are you running in Xinerama? Multiple screens? If you are running those cards and the current Nvidia drivers, randr 1.2 has been supported for a while. Can you post the output of these commands? lsmod | grep nvidia
glxinfo | grep render
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep -i 'EE'
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep -i 'WW'
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep -i 'PCI'

By the way, I"m testing Brotherhood (Steam version) and am getting a crash. I am installing the libraries required for Uplay DRM: - crypt32.dll
- msasn1.dll (available in POL packages)
- libcef.dll (for Chrome)
Strange because why would I need a Chrome dll to run Uplay?
So can you confirm the same strategy for Assassin's Creed II works with Assassin's Creed Brotherhood?
I was hoping it would be easier...

Hello guys. I did as you said, but it's uPlay that isn't working. I click play game in uPlay and everytime it says check your install. Is there a bypass for uPlay?

No bypass for AC2 unfortunately. Did you double-check the path in your terminal commands? Its really frustrating huh? I still can't get Brotherhood to work either...

Why can't developers just make games for Linux too? I want to switch, but I want to game more...

Its not just the developers. Its MUCH more than that. Now Steam is involved, and all sorts of great stuff is going on. There haven been games developed for linux like this last year since the early to mid 90's. Just be patient. Its happening. I have AT LEAST 100 games that run natively on Linux, and most of my other games run fine through Wine, and wine gets better and better with every release. I have played a few assassins creed games with few issues, mass effect, run my FULL array of music software, etc etc etc.. . All of this in the last year I have seen improve by leaps and bounds. And really, when you have a game that runs like crap through wine or doesnt have a native port, I simply dual boot. Boot into windows, I still have my savage system, and now have FULL compatibility across the board. Its obviously not ideal, but you can know that you always have a fool-proof solution a 60-second reboot away.

Its actually quite exciting being here in the beginning of the Linux gaming revolution! I get to see it develop and see all the success/horror stories. I'm happy to be part of it.
