I think it might be good however have you tried playing a game for over three hours straight? When I did that the main music stopped playing but the rest of the sounds still played

I forgot to add that was playing Civilization IV basic, with custom game.

This game no longer works. I upgraded to Kubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander and reinstalled the generic Intel driver. I tried switching to several versions of wine but none work. The video is all messed up. Civ 5 works so why doesn’t civ 4?

Doing some random clicking I was able to get past the first part. I don't remember what I did. Looks like just the intro is messed up. I wish I knew how to bypass that part. I guess I will have to wipe off the cob webs and boot windows. It could be another Steam problem. Some times when Steam does a so called update they break something in addition to fixing some thing. Like 2 steps forward and one step back.

I discovered that wine version 1.4.1 skips the intro stuff and then the rest of the game works fine. I guess the wine devs. must have screwed up some where with later versions.

Changing the script to use 1.7.8 works perfectly.

However, I am having problems creating a shortcut in Steam so I can launch a mod from a shortcut. Does anyone know how to do this in PlayOnLinux?

How it works in Windows is that you are supposed to modify the launch options of a shortcut.

like so: "Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod="K-Mod"

Im cant remember how to do that directly to a shortcut, but you should be able to add arguments in:

Configure -> virtual drive -> General tab

I know there is a way to do it from the shortcuts, but I just havent done it.

I'm having issues with the actual game itself. Anytime I press a key, the game crashes. However, I can progress in the game only controlling using my mouse.
