if i have window mode on my glide wrapper enabled everything works fine except the window is too small and capture mouse doesnt properly work. not to mention i cant use alt key to show items no matter what, i had to reconfigure my controls in diablo 2. if i leave it full screen when i minimize the game i cant get back into it, which makes using jsp hard.

whoa, those are some crazy graphical gliches! I would say use a virtual desktop in Wine to help with the mouse problem. Also, usually graphical artifacts and gliches are because of your video drivers or directx version. You probably used the provided script from PlayOnLinux, and it would automatically install d3dx9 for you. But there is a chance Diablo installed DirectX too. This could cause a conflict, but maybe not... Do you know how to run virtual desktop from Wine? Try installing some more d3dx9 components in PlayOnLinux. Also, try a different version of Wine with PlayOnLinux too. Let me know if you need step-by-step tips.

If im not mistaken, when you install DX or .NET or WINE through POL in to a virtual drive, I believe they make registry entries that dont let the actual DX package install everything. Im like, 99% positive, though, that when .NET or Mono is installed like that, it makes changes so that .NET installations wont mess up MONO and vice-versa. Someone please correct me if Im wrong, though.

I don't know how to verify that, but I've had success with both native directx and built-in d3dx9 components. Its hard to tell if the games DirectX over-writes the Wine directx or not. As for .NET I've been following your directions about installing it if using Wine versions below 1.5 or installing Mono210 instead. But not both!

Exactly. It will cause problems. To be honest, a lot of games automatically install DirectX silently during install of the game, even though I have d3d installed, and it never causes any issues. If it ever does ask me to Repair or Uninstall, I just hit repair, and let it go. No issues. I used to just click cancel, but a few games didnt like that and it made the install fail. .NET/Mono or a whole different beast, though.

Cool to know, I kinda assumed as much because I've had them install at different times also. Never get a warning to overwrite... Yeah, I'm still trying to grasp the .NET/Mono beast... I only use it if I "Have To"

Yeah. For me, I always try mono first (whether its wine-mono or the actual Windows Mono package), and then if that doesnt work, Ill try and hack-n-slash my way through .NET installs. Oddly enough, .NET3 and above always end with errors, but it still seems installed, and certain programs like Propellerhead Reason, work fine with it. Im still wanting to get Reason installed. There is a patch for it (you cannot click the file, edit, etc menus. you have to use shortcuts). I had a patch for it, but now its like everytime I compile it and try to use it, it either fails install, or it works, but then It crashes if I try to save a track. lol. SO annoying.

I have successfully installed dotnet30 in the past. I would install dotnet30 because it automatically installs donet20 along with it. Post your errors in the PlayOnLinux forum! :)

I havent needed to use .NET in a while. But, Im compiling Wine again with that patch, and am going to try to install Reason again. Hopefully it will work.
