First, update your PlayOnLinux to 4.2.1. You can get that from our Download section.

Next, how did you install this game? Did you use the install script in the Install section of PlayOnLinux or did you try to manually install it?

I have a step-by-step guide you can follow with PlayOnLinux to get Battlefield 2 (and patches) running in Linux.

In my Signature, click on "PlayOnLinux Tutorials"
Then click Battlefield 2 in the forum

Follow the guide and if you still have problems let us know.
Note: I still had some graphical artifacts in Battlefield. Little black splotches here and there, probably related to shaders.

OK, first, before we go to manual installs, we need to know if they used the install script from POL, because if it doesnt work, we need to know, so that we can fix the script and manual installs dont need to be done. Without working scripts, POL is not going to do it for people.

Good point!
Lets see what he originally used for the installation.

As I've always said... I don't expect the PlayOnLinux Developers to update every script for every Linux/Windows variable out there. Instead, I do manual installations to learn more about the inner-workings of PlayOnLinux.
Also, I've have a lot more success with games.

Word, but again, if manual installs can work, then scripts can be written. Thats why we use BASH in there; VERY powerful scripting. Once a script is written, if people submit bug reports correctly, then we can gradually fix issues with other OS. 9 times out of 10, people dont have drivers installed right, or are missing dependencies, etc etc etc.. Its most of the time not a script error, but the system lacking native Linux items that stop things from happening.

If you are having that much success with games, then lets take your manual installs and compare them to the scripts, so that we can figure out what you are doing to make them run better/correctly. Thats how all software and scripts are developed. Once its out in the wild, testing needs to be done to get bugs worked out, but if no one uses scripts, we dont find bugs, and the scripts dont work for some people.

First, update your PlayOnLinux to 4.2.1. You can get that from our Download section.

You did not do this yet, as asked earlier. Do that, remove the virtual drive for Battlefield2, and then reinstall.

Yeah, please update to the newest version of PlayOnLinux before you go any further.

When I was testing Battlefield 2, I had to re-install several times before it would work correctly. I had the most problems just launching the game. In my tutorial it explains that you have to set a specific resolution (that Wine likes) in a config file.

Also, your debug shows that you are still using wine-1.1.42, this one is really old. Try using Wine 1.4.1 or newer.
By the way, if you use Wine 1.5.25 it doesn't require dotnet anymore, but I havn't tested Battlefield 2 with it.
Do you know how to use PlayOnLinux to download/install Wine versions?

When did 1.5.25 stop needing .net? I know .net won't install on those versions or higher, but I didn't know that it didn't require it.

When it automatically includes mono.
Isn't mono the dotnet equivalent

Thats what I meant... at least that is what you told me. You also said that mono and dotnet can conflict, so I'm trying to prevent odis308 from more frustration.
Cause I had a lot with this game, but at the same time I was on my own.

You are right. I was just confused on how it was worded. lol. any wine version beyond what I mentioned should automatically install wine-mono, which should give some basic .NET compat.. Any versions before that should use mono210 from Install Componenets in POL.
