Hello everybody.
I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise 32 bit
My computer is an HP Compaq 6720s
I don't know what my desktop is.
I have tried to install Dragon Naturally Speaking 12 Home via PlayonLinux/Wine 1.4.
When I launch Dragon it opens up but crashes immediately.
Can anyone help?
I get a window saying that Wine crashed
Thanks and best regards

I did some reading on WineHQ.org and it looks like NatSpeak may be causing you some headache: Dragon Naturally Speaking 12 Home
Looks like other people have gotten it to work in Ubuntu Quantal

Someone suggested to install NatSpeak with Wine 1.4 then install a newer Wine and then run it.

Also, after installing NatSpeak apparently there are two pop-up boxes that may cause a crash. One person suggested restarting your computer and then launching it again.

I personally always test games and programs in a Virtual Desktop which may help your pop-up problems.

Im really surprised that there is not a Open-Source equivalent to Dragon.

Here is an open-source option:
EvalDictator
Looks like it requires Java, but it should translate speech into text.

Express Scribe isn't open source, but its free and looks like it will run in Wine.

Other transcription/dictation software from NCH:  NCH

I didnt even look. I just figured I would have heard about it.

OP: I would go with one of the above answers first, and see if they suit your needs.

Yeah. I was just going to say, go with an open-source alternative. There are plenty of them.
