Hi there!
I hope you can help me!
I have downloaded and installed World Of Tanks through 'PlayOnMac'. Everything installed okay (as far as I am aware) .. however, when I press 'Play' on the World Of Tanks Launcher screen, I get this message:
'World of Tanks - Error Application has failed to start because directX hardware acceleration is not available or turned off.'
I am sure my graphics card is capable of playing the game! Please can you help me!
Kind regards, James.
My computer: Apple iMac 27" (Early 2009) 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 16 GB Memory ATi Radeon HD 4670 graphics card - 256 MB VRAM

You dont have the OpenGL libraries for your ATI card. Install them, and it should work. No need to use exclamation points. Its the internet equivalent of yelling. :)

Hi again,
Thank you for your speedy response (and the tips regarding the exclamation marks!). :)
I have had a look at the 'OpenGL libraries' on the website opengl.org ... however I am not sure what it is that I am supposed to download - could you provide a link to a page which contains a download link. Thank you so much for your help - it is much appreciated.
Regards, James.

To be honest, I have no clue when it comes to a Mac. Let me see if I can find something for you.

It should come with the driver install for your video card go to this site: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspxand choose MAC graphics. Then choose the appropriate driver for your card, download it, and install it. Then reboot your system and try again. It may even ask you during the install if you want to install the OpenGL libraries (I dont own AMD/ATI gear, so I dont know), so pay attention to the install. I hope this helps. Hopefully someone who knows a bit more about a mac will come along and give some input if the above-mentioned steps do not work.

Hi DJ,
I have searched the internet for hours to try and find a driver update for my graphics card. My graphics card is NOT listed on the AMD driver website (under MAC graphics, like you suggested). Would you suggest updating the driver through PlayOnMac? Because there IS a link to a driver update for Windows on the AMD website - would that work?
I really appreciate your help!
Kind regards, James

Do you think if I upgraded to OSX Mountain Lion it would help? I'm sure my graphics card is good enough to handle the game on 'low quality' - I've got this far with the game ... I can't give up now! :(

What is up with people deleting their posts all of the time? hahaha No. Windows drivers will not work in Wine like that. You need to have the Mac OSX OpenGL libraries. I doubt upgrading your system would work, as you still wouldnt have the openGL libraries. You need to do some google searching and find what those are and how to download them. Again, WIndows drivers and libraries wont work like that. It needs those for direct hardware access.
