Hello all

i have a problem that if I want to print office document in ubuntu they get corrupted

(mainly *.docx) because compatibility issues (I have to use the terminal!).

I installed MS office on linux with PlayOnLinux and it working very well.

Any idea how to print via the terminal doc/ppt files???

I thought for an option to convert this type of files to PDF format so they will be printed well maybe (using LPR command after the conversion),But I don’t know how to convert doc files in palyonlinux to pdf from the terminal

Im using the command  “”playonlinux –run “word 2007” filename.doc””  to open is with but I prefer that it will just print/convert them and will not open MS word (maybe using other program like acrobat etc??)

Thanks!!

I dont believe that is a feature in MS Office, so Im not sure how it would work to begin with.

Whats odd, is that I print office documents using openoffice or libreoffice all of the time, and never have an issue printing them.

The terminal will run bash, so you should be able to do it, but im not sure how. I can say with almost no doubt that office does not do that, so you will probably have to write a bash script to get that working.

First thanks for the quick replay!
I understand what you are saying and I have something to add
I can see the cups-pdf printer installed when I open print options in MS-word And I mange to print to pdf nicely without any problems.
the problem is again is how to do it from the terminal? Im quite new in the bash script Business so I don’t know how to refer to that.
Much appreciation again!

have you tried google searching your answer? Office wont let you print from it, but you may be able to find a program that can do that, if you search for it on google.
