OK Thanks for sharing all that ... I am getting the picture of what you are saying. I still have to learn the meaning of all those terminology and what they represent, and how they all fit into the picture. Guess I got a lot of reading then. Oh well, it shouldn't matter to a "first class bookworm" as my dad used to call me. (He can't any longer as he is dead now.) I truly appreciate all you shared. It is a new world I am walking into now. Thanks again. I am going to save all this and refer to it in times ahead.

I always say "its funner to learn by doing" I don't mind a bit of reading, but I'm a visual learner. So I learn by just installing Linux and messing around. You can alway try Live Disk with Linux distros and just run it as a test Operating System. Another fun way to learn Linux

Word. Reading helps a lot, but Im usually reading about something that Im trying to do, intending to do, or something that Im actually doing at that moment.
Also, VirtualBox is great for seeing how the installation of different distros and stuff like that go. Im actually downloading Arch to test out a bug right now, and am going to install it into a virtual machine.

"Word. Reading helps a lot, but Im usually reading about something that Im trying to do, intending to do, or something that Im actually doing at that moment."
It is opposite for me, when it comes to computers ... I just do it, trusting others to have taken care of problems, or cry "Help" when I have problems ... BTW, I do not do much reading lately ... my eyes are going bad, after 60 years of abuse, and it is time for me to start living in the real world, instead of in the fantasy worlds of books ... Although lately, I still do some reading but it is mostly for my research and work in history and scriptures ... I'd much rather work with something with my own hands, farming, tinkering, fabricating and repair... stuff like that. But, I guess I'd have to start reading up on computer stuff, which I have been avoiding. Again thanks for all the help. I am eternally grateful.

copy it to your system32 folder in that wineprefix and set it to use that in wineconfig, or I believe, just install the vbrun package from the "Install Components" section.

if you need that specific .dll you will have to google it and download it. Then put it in your /home/username/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/game/drive_c/windows/system32 Note: "username" is where you put your login Note: "game" is where you put the name of the Virtual Drive you created, also known as a wineprefix Edited by booman

I've got the dll ... when I tried to paste it into my system32 ... I was alerted that the vbscript.dll is there, of 22.5 kB, asking me if I want to replace it with a new one (of 417.8kB) ... what should I do?

Its already there. Why are you trying to do that, anyway? Is there a specific reason?

it is because the e-Sword is not working properly, and they said to install MSXML6.DLL and VBSCRIPT.DLL by the way, the vbscript.dll was already there and with the msxml6.dll installed, it still didn't work properly

and there is a little concern I have ... why this huge difference in the size of dll (22.5 kB vs 415 kb)? Is it something I should be concerned about?

Different versions or a bad copy of that DLL. I have seen different versions of some DLLs vary by as much as 10 MB. It happens. Use the bigger one, and see if that helps. Also, in winecfg (access it through the configuration -> wine tab -> wine configuration), you need to set the BULLETIN/NATIVE attribute in that list to NATIVE for whatever DLLs you are copying it in to.

I have never fully understood the those "native" settings. I usually don't mess with them.

Basically, Wine can take care of most of the things it needs to do, in theory, with the Bulletin drivers. These, from what I understand, come with wine, and are part of its native functionality. Now, you know when you need dx3d installed? All it does is copy the .dlls where they need to be, and sets that .DLL in that list from Bulletin to Native (as in native Windows dll, not the wine one). Hence the name "override". Ideally, Wine should be able to do everything it needs itself, but of course, wine is far from finished. It gets better with every release.

ah, "override" that was the other word I was looking for... I'm getting to the point where I just try the game in PlayOnLinux with a current Wine. If something doesn't work, then I start installing packages/libraries/dll's I just tried a game this morning (Tiny Bang Story) and it ran without any extra configuration. Pretty cool! Keep it up Wine Devs!

Yeah. I love when that happens. hahaha. There are a bunch of programs like that, that are not listed in PlayOnLinux, simply because they do not have scripts. I have a list of a bunch of programs that just install in Wine with no issues (or very little configuration) that I am going to write scripts for, just to have them listed in PlayOnLinux.

That reminds me of a question... a bit off topic. Is there a script automatically generated from doing a manual installation? I found a directory in PlayOnLinux with scripts names after the Virtual Drive I created. I do almost all of my games in Manual Installation.
