A question: would it be possible to upload wine version 1.5.25 with Maarten Lankhorst's multimedia patches? To fix the whole Pulseaudio issue with wine.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, we decided not to support pulseaudio with wine.

There is no reason to make only one version that support pulseaudio because it would be used with every program, and we don't wan't to patch every version by default

I understand you not wanting to have to support pulse audio but that is giving new users fits and kind of defeating the whole purpose of getting folks to Linux. I have been a linux gamer since long before PlayOnLinux was even around. Would it not benefit us to create a How-to for things like working around the pulse audio problems? A simple "apt-get remove --purge pulseaudio" usually solves the issues. Then its just a matter of blacklisting pulseaudio updates/installs. Some of us old timers would be willing to help when needed.

what?
i have been using wine with pulseaudio with no issues
pre 1.4 releases had issues. but after that its been pretty solid experience.
no need for extra patches.

Its not that it wont work, its just not supported. There are issues with Pulseaudio and WINE in general, and really, from what I understand, does not have to do with POL.

ALSA and PulseAudio are a different things. ALSA is kernel level, Pulse is userland. There are fixes to it, but that would require patching every single version of WINE with pulse support.... It would kill the fluidity of releases.

Although, Ill admit, I have used pulse for a few thing, and not had issues, but read all of the time about others that have all kinds of problems (though, using programs that I dont use).
